I have been having a ton of fun going through the 1950’s junior cook book I bought recently. I asked the kids to pick out some recipes that they wanted to make from it, and low and behold they all agreed that we had to make the chocolate shake recipe. So one fine day, after they came home from school we made some shakes for an after school snack. Needless to say, they were well pleased by that. This one is easy, fun, and you can change it up to make whatever kind of shakes you enjoy.
5 heaping spoonfuls of vanilla ice cream
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1/2 cup milk
* optional: whipped cream, wafer cookies, marachino cherries to garnish
Place 5 big spoonfuls of ice cream in a blender. Or in a shaker like the 1950’s cook book calls for.
Add chocolate syrup.
Place the lid on the blender and pulse or blend on high for about 10-20 seconds.
This makes one shake.
