Easy Italian Dressing Mix
I’m a fan of simple things. Those little things you can do or make in minutes that have a lasting effect. This Salad dressing mix is one I found online when I was invited to a last minute pot-luck. That night I whipped up an impromptu Antipasto Salad by using fresh vegetables from my garden, and lunch meat and cheese from my fridge. It was simple, fresh, easy, and best of all everyone really enjoyed my contribution.
This recipe is pretty great, mostly because you make your herb blend and keep it in a baggie till you’re ready to use. Having a dry mix like this is also great for impromptu gifting (or if you plan ahead Christmas gifts). I just pick up a few cute cruets or small mason jars, put in the required two tablespoons, tag it with instructions and it’s good to go. Which is great for those people in our lives who are dieting, have dietary restrictions, or have another aversion to sweet treats.
2 Tablespoons Oregano
2 Tablespoons Salt (or less if you have salt restrictions)
1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon Dried Parsley
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon Basil
1 teaspoon Thyme
1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
1/4 teaspoon Celery Salt
1. Mix all dry ingredients together.
2. Store in a airtight container till ready to use.
3. To Make Dressing: Whisk together 1/4 cup vinegar (White is traditional, experiment with what you like) , 2/3 cup olive oil (or any other oil you prefer), 2 tablespoons water, and 2 tablespoons of the spice blend.
