This is a variation of my decadent fudgy brownie recipe that can be found here on the blog. I am kind of a brownie addict, and like to change it up a bit by adding different ingredients to them. I had some m&m’s in the house so decided to make my m&m brownies. I promised the kids, and my husband to make them some brownies this weekend – if they were good. Well “good” is subjective, as we all well know…..but they made the cut in my book this weekend. So I happily resigned myself to some baking in the kitchen. Which anyone who truly knows me, knows that when I am cooking/baking in my kitchen that’s when I am happiest. Of late I have not cooked or baked much do to personal stress, but doing so this weekend gave me some much needed relief. Have fun experimenting in the kitchen.
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup flour (add more if you do not want it as fudgy)
1/2 teaspoon salt (omit if using salted butter)
1/2 – 1 cup plain M&M’s
*optional 1/2 cup semi- sweet chocolate chips & 1 tablespoon of shortening. Melted together and drizzled over brownies when they come out of the oven.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.
Place the butter and unsweetened chocolate in a 4 quart saucepan over low heat. Stirring until butter and chocolate are melted.
Remove from heat stir in sugar, vanilla and eggs.
Add flour and salt. Stir in a handful of the m&m’s.
Pour in a prepared pan. Then top with additional m&m’s.
Bake 20-25 minutes. Do not over bake. Drizzle with chocolate. Cool completely.
