So, what do I do for fun on a Friday night? Make cookies! Doesn’t that sound super fun and exciting?! Actually, I am preparing for my son’s camp-out themed birthday party, and none of my kids parties are complete without homemade baked goods prepared from scratch by my two hands (well, I do have the aid of my super awesome stand mixer) I don’t know what I would do without it.
Okay, back on topic….these m&m cookies are so chewy and delicious – I almost have to keep them under lock and key. So that they aren’t devoured in one fell swoop. My children barely let me get the cookies baked, because they start hounding me immediately for the cookie dough. I guess that’s a good thing though. 😉 Give this recipe a try, and you will see what an amazingly delicious recipe it is.
Ingredients: Yield: 3 dozen cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1-1/4 brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup m&m’s
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
In a large mixing bowl cream the butter and sugars together. Add the eggs and vanilla.
Mix in the flour and baking soda.
Gently stir in the m&m’s and mini chocolate chips.
Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven at 375°F.
Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls on baking sheets.
Bake 8-12 minutes or until the edges start to brown.
* Tip: You can use some additional mini chocolate chips and m&m’s to dot the tops of the cookies before baking. This makes for a pretty presentation.
